 The Taiwanese People

“Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which they live is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of a corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice.”

History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. This is the problem in society today; but worse this is tragedy that will ruin Taiwan. The heart and soul of Taiwanese seems like it has vanished over the years, we became fearful, afraid of what might or might not happen. This is a crisis and it is a dilemma we must face as a society, if not, we will always be stuck in history, and never advance further. What will become of our children’s children if we do not create a foundation for their future?

I know of no country in which there is so little independence of mind and real freedom of discussion as in Taiwan. The media controls the thoughts of the people and the foreigners’ disguises in our government promising lies, but still the masses believe. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all. Propaganda is the key of the foreign disease, and they use this force with passion. Let it be fear, conformity, greed, or murders they have done it all. This propaganda not only existed fifty years ago, but it still exists today. The greatest triumphs of propaganda have been accomplished, not by doing something, but by refraining from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth. The problem again was created by the foreigners, but enhanced by the people. We must know, a small force, is still a force, good people are not good if not acted with admirable consent. If good people are silenced, thus making the crude succeed, and it was not that the bad overpopulated the good, but the good was afraid of being admirable.

Taiwan has less then 10% of foreign Chinese residents, and they have poisoned Taiwan, yet they do not stop there, they continue to rob us, to pollute us, and worse then commit high treason. Each crime they make, are not insignificant crimes, they are high crimes, and must be taken in consideration. Failure by the people, Taiwanese’s media and government to face the reality of high crimes and cover-ups is corrupting the heart and soul of Taiwan. Our nation is dying of its own cowardice.

These diseases like the People First Party, and Kuomintang are not even close to good speakers, nor good role models, but it is not them that are attractive. It is fortunate for the plagues of parasites that the people they administer do not think. And again this is the crisis, created by the parasites, yet reconstructed by the Taiwanese inhabitants. I question myself, why, why are the people so easily persuaded? Is the Taiwanese people that easy to manipulate, do we not have brains to think, heart to believe and passion to work from? Then I am reminded of what Einstein quoted once, “Only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity... and I am not sure about the former.”

We as the people have become too ignorant to look, too self indulged to think, and to blind to act. It feels as though at any given moment, there is a sort of all pervading orthodoxy, a general tacit agreement not to discuss large and uncomfortable facts. We have entrusted our thoughts, into the media, we have entrusted our souls to the government. There are always good and bad people, so we must decide, for ourselves, who is bad and who will bring us to glory. We must choose, good over bad, and we, who choose the good, must not sink in evil but rise in triumph. We can have a democratic society or we can have the concentration of great wealth in the hands of the few. We cannot have both. We as Taiwanese must understand that, democratic society does not mean all people are poor, it just means all people are wealthy, or we could choose the appalling alternative, and have only a insignificant portion of the residents control the wealth and become like China, and a autocratic regime, again. Bring back the 228 massacre, bring forth a regime that hates its own people, and live in a world of dreams of taking back the past.

If this evil is to prevail there are things you and I must realize, this country, with its institutions, belongs to the Taiwanese who inhabit it. Whenever we shall grow weary of the existing government, we can exercise our constitutional right of amending it, of our revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it. For the things like James Soong, Lien Chan, and supporters of that regime you must understand one thing, when we despair, we remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it ... always.

We Taiwanese will always rise, we will always succeed, and we will unite. This is what the foreigners fear, we have a choice, to take what is ours peacefully, or in time loose what is rightfully ours and take it back with no mercy.
